Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have struck an agreement in principle for the transfer of Ferran Torres, according to a report by Israeli outlet ONE, with the Spain forward closing in on a move to Ligue 1 just weeks after scoring the goal that won this summer's World Cup.
ONE reports the fee stands at €50 million guaranteed, with a further €5 million in performance add-ons that could push the total package to €55 million. Those terms line up closely with reporting in France and Spain, including Goal and Barca Blaugranes, who describe the deal as being in its final stages.
Barcelona had initially knocked back an opening PSG offer of €40 million plus €10 million in variables, insisting on a €50 million guaranteed baseline. ONE reports PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi personally authorised the improved bid once it became clear that figure was the price of getting the deal done.
Luis Enrique is described as the driving force behind the move. According to ONE, the PSG coach called Torres directly to lay out the role he would play in Paris — a version of events also reported by L'Equipe in France, which said Enrique reached out personally to a player he already knows well from his time in charge of the Spanish national team.
The report suggests Torres had grown frustrated at Barcelona, feeling he never received a firm vote of confidence from either Deco or former coach Hansi Flick, despite hints in recent interviews that he wanted clearer assurances over his future at the club.
Torres, 26, had one year left on his Barcelona contract. Reports in France indicate he is set to sign terms with PSG running for five seasons, through to 2031, putting him on a deal in line with the club's leading earners.
The move comes little more than three weeks after Torres scored the only goal in Spain's 2026 World Cup final victory over Argentina, a result that made him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe this summer.
ONE reports Torres was expected at Barcelona's training complex to clear out his locker and say goodbye to teammates before departing for Paris, with the fundamentals of the deal said to have been settled while PSG's hierarchy were in Europe for the Super Cup. Final paperwork was still being completed at the time of writing.
A deal of this scale would rank among the most significant departures from Camp Nou this summer and hands Enrique another attacking option as PSG look to build on a dominant recent run under the Spaniard.
