Maccabi Petah Tikva have added a young central defender to their squad for the coming season, confirming a three-year contract with 21-year-old Bashar Abdach, according to a report from ONE.
Abdach's move follows a trial spell with Maccabi Petah Tikva's preseason training camp, where he did enough to convince the coaching staff to turn a look-in into a formal, multi-year signing rather than a short-term arrangement.
Because the move happened outside a standard transfer-window sale, it required a ruling from Israel's player-status committee, which set the compensation Maccabi Petah Tikva must pay at 140,000 shekels — the mechanism regularly used for domestic moves of this kind.
The defender joins from Hapoel Hadera, where he had been a first-team option over the past few seasons; Soccerway and Flashscore both list him with Hadera prior to this move, and he featured in senior fixtures including a Ligat ha'Al meeting with Beitar Jerusalem in February 2025.
Abdach's arrival is represented in the deal by agent Shlomi Ben Ezra.
"I'm happy and excited to sign with a club like Maccabi Petah Tikva, I can't wait to get on the pitch and help the team achieve its goals," Abdach said after putting pen to paper, per the report.
The signing adds squad depth at the back for Maccabi Petah Tikva as the club continues to build its roster ahead of the new season, following a summer of incremental additions to the group.
