Chelsea have completed the signing of left-back Pep Chavarría from Rayo Vallecano, ONE reports, closing out a deal that becomes the biggest outgoing sale in the Madrid club's history.
The move was pushed for by head coach Xabi Alonso, who has been reshaping his defensive options at Stamford Bridge after Marc Cucurella's departure left a gap on the left side. Chavarría, 28, arrives as his direct replacement.
European outlets have not fully agreed on the exact number: ONE puts the fee at roughly €22 million, while several British and Spanish reports describe a €19 million base rising to about €21 million with add-ons. Either way, it is a club-record sale for Rayo Vallecano.
The Catalan defender has signed a five-year contract at Chelsea, keeping him at the club through June 2031.
Chavarría joined Rayo Vallecano from Real Zaragoza in 2022 and grew into one of La Liga's more reliable full-backs, making 125 appearances for the club and helping it reach last season's Conference League final while finishing eighth in the table.
Alongside the confirmed Chavarría deal, ONE also flagged a developing story out of Turkey: according to Turkish media, Dušan Vlahović has agreed personal terms with Beşiktaş on a three-year contract, choosing the Istanbul club's offer as the most lucrative on the table.
The Serbian striker has been a free agent since his Juventus contract expired on June 30, and a move to Beşiktaş would reunite him with head coach Vincenzo Italiano, who managed him during his time at Fiorentina before his transfer to Juventus.
Neither club has yet issued an official announcement on Vlahović, and the transfer is still being reported as an agreement in principle rather than a done deal, even as multiple Italian and Turkish outlets describe it as close to being finalised.
The two stories cap a busy day of transfer activity across Europe, with ONE's report noting several other deals in motion involving Serie A, La Liga and Premier League clubs as the summer window heads toward its close.
