Dolev Haziza said his goodbyes to Maccabi Haifa this week with a message that summed up seven years in green: "I always gave everything for Maccabi Haifa. It was an incredible journey," he wrote, in the farewell post reported by ONE, as his move across the country to Maccabi Netanya was finalised.
Ynet confirmed the transfer is now official: Haziza has signed a two-year contract with Maccabi Netanya that runs to the summer of 2028. Maccabi Haifa will pay him roughly NIS 400,000 in compensation for parting ways early on a deal that had been due to run until 2027, according to Walla Sport and Sport1.
The split had been building for weeks. Haifa informed Haziza in June that he was not part of the squad's plans for next season, and he did not travel with the team for preseason training camp, Walla Sport and Sport1 reported. Netanya, who had been interested in the winger for some time, moved to close the deal soon after.
Haziza arrived at Maccabi Haifa in the summer of 2019 from Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv, joining a club looking to rebuild toward the top of the table. He went on to make 182 appearances and score 33 goals, eventually wearing the captain's armband.
It turned into one of the most successful spells in the club's modern history. Haifa won three Israeli championships, the Toto Cup and the Super Cup during his time there, and in 2022/23 reached the Champions League group stage for the first time in the club's history.
Haziza pointed to that European campaign, and a match against Paris Saint-Germain in particular, as a personal career highlight, according to the ONE report — a rare, glamorous night on the club's biggest stage.
In his farewell message he thanked Maccabi Haifa's supporters, saying the connection with the fans had felt special from the moment he arrived and would stay with him always.
There is a neat symmetry to where he ends up. Haziza was born in Netanya, and his move brings him back to his home city's club for the next chapter of his career, on a deal running to 2028.
He has also represented Israel's senior national team since 2019, adding an international dimension to a résumé now closing one chapter at Sammy Ofer Stadium and opening another at Netanya Stadium.
