Another Israeli name has landed on Ferencváros's transfer radar, with ONE reporting that the Hungarian champions have begun looking into a move for Maccabi Netanya midfielder Bassam Zaarura.
According to the report, Ferencváros are already aware of Netanya's valuation of the 23-year-old at around €1.8 million, suggesting the interest goes beyond a casual scouting note and into more serious territory.
Zaarura has been one of the standout performers in Israeli football over the past year, carrying that form into the new season after joining Netanya from Maccabi Haifa in 2023 on a three-year deal. The Shefa-'Amr-born midfielder has previously drawn attention from Poland's Lech Poznań and MLS side Atlanta United, per the same report.
Ferencváros are no strangers to the Israeli market. Gabi Kanichowsky, formerly of Maccabi Tel Aviv, has been on their books since 2024, and ONE suggests the club could ultimately look to Zaarura as a fresh option in a similar mould if talks with Netanya progress.
The Hungarian giants are also very much in-season themselves: they beat Trabzonspor 1-0 away in the first leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday, with a Champions League football and continental football very much part of the pitch they can offer a target like Zaarura.
ONE adds that Maccabi Tel Aviv have also been keeping tabs on the player domestically, underlining how highly he is rated inside Israel even as the more eye-catching interest comes from abroad.
Not everyone is treating a move as imminent, however. Zaarura's agent, Shlomi Ben Ezra, was quoted pushing back on any sense that a departure is close: "Bassam is 100% committed to Maccabi Netanya and will only play in Israel for them. Any foreign offers will be discussed with the club."
That leaves the story, for now, at the stage of interest rather than negotiation - a name Ferencváros are said to like, at a price they reportedly already know, with Netanya and the player's camp giving no signal they are ready to do business.
