Hapoel Tirat Carmel are entering their maiden season in Liga Alef with a squad plan built more on patience than spending: hand the ball to the kids the club raised itself.
The Haifa-district side, promoted after finishing runner-up in Liga Bet, have installed Lidan Deloya as head coach for the third-tier campaign. Deloya arrives with a coaching CV that includes a spell as assistant coach at Hapoel Haifa and time working with both youth and senior teams at Hapoel Acre, according to ONE.
He will be flanked by Amit Peretz as assistant coach, who also works with the Under-18 side at MK Neve Yosef Haifa, and by Paz Ron as fitness coach.
The headline decision, though, is upstairs rather than on the touchline: club officials have chosen to fast-track two academy products straight into senior contention rather than shop exclusively in the transfer market.
Forward Sahar Mansour, 20, is promoted after six years working through the youth ranks, in which he scored 102 goals, ONE reports. The club's framing of the move leaves little ambiguity about how highly he is rated internally, with the sky reportedly described as the limit for where his career could yet go.
Goalkeeper David Swissa, who turns 19 later this year, is the other academy graduate handed a first-team opportunity. He has been with Hapoel Tirat Carmel for close to a decade, progressing through every age group before this promotion.
"There is no greater pride than a club seeing a homegrown player grow from the youth leagues into the senior team," the club said in comments carried by ONE, framing the promotions as a statement of identity rather than a short-term fix.
Around that academy core, the rebuilt squad also brings back experience: forward Michael Ashkenazi and defender Ron Applebaum both return for the new campaign.
The recruitment outside the club has stayed local and modest in scale, in keeping with third-tier budgets. Defenders Omer Liyad and Barak Englister arrive from Liga Bet side Or Akiva, while defender Uriel Cohen joins from fellow Liga Alef club Tira.
It is a deliberately unglamorous roster build for a club making its first appearance at this level, one that leans on continuity in defence and faith in what the academy has produced rather than a marquee signing to headline the return.
