Hapoel Galil Elyon have strengthened their basketball backroom staff ahead of the new season, bringing in Itamar Roitman as head of scouting and assistant coach, ONE reports.
The Upper Galilee club confirmed the appointment in a statement, saying it was pleased to welcome Roitman to its ranks as he takes charge of the scouting department alongside his assistant coaching duties.
Roitman arrives with a working relationship already in place with Galil Elyon's head coach, Idan Avshalom. The pair previously worked together at Elitzur Netanya, where Roitman served as a scout and assistant to the professional manager.
At Netanya, Roitman was closely involved in identifying and recruiting the club's foreign players, giving him direct experience in the kind of market knowledge Galil Elyon's management is now hoping to tap into.
Avshalom himself moved to Kfar Blum in January, taking over the Galil Elyon bench after Guy Yizraeli was dismissed midway through the previous campaign, so the reunion effectively rebuilds part of the coaching partnership the two had at Netanya.
For a club competing in Israel's top basketball flight from the Upper Galilee, adding a dedicated scouting lead is a modest but notable investment in professional infrastructure as the roster is finalised before the new season.
