Fenerbahçe are in advanced negotiations to sign Johnny Juzang, the American guard who spent the second half of last season with Zenit St. Petersburg, according to a report by the Israeli outlet ONE.

The 25-year-old, listed at 2.01 metres, has emerged as one of the names Fenerbahçe are chasing as they retool after a bruising exit from this year's EuroLeague Final Four, where they were beaten 79-61 by Olympiacos in the semifinal.

Juzang is no stranger to being pursued by Israeli basketball either. Ynet reported earlier this summer, citing Italian journalist Matteo Andreani, that Maccabi Tel Aviv was tracking him as it hunts for NBA-experienced reinforcements alongside newly signed guard Lonnie Walker and ongoing talks with Jeff Dowtin Jr. That same report named Olympiacos and Fenerbahçe as competitors for his signature, the same two clubs now in the mix months later.

Should the move to Istanbul go through, it would end any lingering hope in Tel Aviv of adding Juzang to the roster.

Juzang's route to European basketball has been unusual. Undrafted out of college despite a strong NCAA Tournament run with UCLA, he spent three seasons with the Utah Jazz on a mix of two-way and standard contracts before being waived in the summer of 2025.

He then signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves on an Exhibit 10 deal, was elevated to a two-way contract, and was ultimately released after hitting his 50-game NBA active-roster limit under two-way rules.

That release led him to Zenit St. Petersburg in February 2026, his first taste of professional basketball outside the United States. Over 17 games in Russia he averaged 14.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists, numbers that appear to have caught Fenerbahçe's attention.

Before turning pro, Juzang played a season at Kentucky before transferring to UCLA, where he earned third-team All-American honors as a junior in 2022.

Fenerbahçe have already been busy rebuilding this offseason, adding Shane Larkin, Trent Forrest, Ignas Sargiūnas, Shabazz Napier, Braxton Key, Will Clyburn and Marcus Bingham as they look to go a step further in next season's EuroLeague after last season's semifinal defeat to Olympiacos.

Neither Fenerbahçe nor Zenit has commented publicly, and ONE's report describes the talks as advanced rather than concluded, so a formal announcement has not yet followed.
