Bristol City are still waiting for their first win of the Championship season after Birmingham City snatched a 2-2 draw at St Andrew's with a penalty deep into stoppage time, with new signing Lisav Eissat playing every minute of the frustration.
The Robins twice led through Scott Twine and Dom Ballard, only for Birmingham to claw back level both times and then find a way through in the 95th minute, when Demarai Gray converted from the spot after Rob Atkinson was penalised for fouling Christoph Klarer in the area.
It meant a fourth game of the young season without a win for Bristol City, who opened their campaign with a 2-0 defeat away to Millwall and now sit on a single point from a possible six.
Eissat, the 21-year-old centre-back bought from Maccabi Haifa this summer, again started at the back for head coach Michael Skubula and played the full 90 minutes, part of a settled defensive unit alongside Rob Dickie and George Tanner.
Bristol City confirmed the €2.5 million signing of Eissat from Maccabi Haifa in July, on a four-year deal that made him one of five summer additions as the club moved to strengthen its backline.
Eissat was born in Israel and came through Maccabi Haifa's academy, winning youth titles at under-16 and under-19 level before a breakthrough loan spell at Hapoel Hadera and a return to the Haifa first team, where he made 33 senior appearances.
He represented Israel at every youth level from under-15 to under-21, but opted to switch allegiance and made his senior international debut for Romania in October 2025, in a 2-1 friendly win over Moldova.
For Birmingham, also without a win after opening the season with a goalless draw against Sheffield United, the late leveller offered some relief following a match in which they twice found themselves behind at home.
Bristol City will now look to convert their promising performances into results when they return to Ashton Gate, still searching for the victory that has so far eluded both Skubula's rebuilt side and the club's new Israeli-developed defender.
