Maccabi Herzliya have topped up their goalkeeping stocks at academy level, announcing on Wednesday the signings of two teenage shot-stoppers to two-year youth-department deals just days before the 2026/27 season opens, according to ONE.
Yair Mesika, born in 2008, joins the club's Noar (under-18) squad, while Itay Afrigan, born in 2010, slots into the Nearim Aleph side, roughly the under-17 level. Both moves were arranged through the Play It sports agency, the report said.
Mesika arrives from Hapoel Kfar Saba, where he was the youth team's goalkeeper last season, making five appearances before departing after six years in the Sharon club's system, ONE reported.
Afrigan joins from Hapoel Nir Ramat Hasharon, where he was first-choice goalkeeper for the Nearim Bet side in 2025/26, making 20 appearances over the campaign. He has previously played for several other clubs, including Maccabi Jaffa, according to the report.
No financial terms were disclosed, which is standard for moves at this level of Israeli academy football.
The pair's arrival gives Maccabi Herzliya fresh goalkeeping depth across two youth age groups as the Liga Leumit club builds out its academy ahead of the new season.
