Maccabi Rishon LeZion have added size and rebounding to their frontcourt, announcing the signing of Dutch-Belgian big man Nathan Kuta ahead of the new Ligat Winner season, ONE reports.
The 26-year-old, who stands 2.04 metres (6-foot-8), arrives in Israel after two seasons with Orléans in France's second-tier LNB Pro B, where he established himself as one of the division's more productive frontcourt players.
Last season at Orléans, Kuta averaged 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, numbers that made him a target for clubs looking to add a physical presence in the paint.
Before his stint in France, Kuta spent three seasons with Spirou Charleroi in Belgium's top division, the club where he first built his reputation as an aggressive rebounder and finisher around the rim.
In its announcement, Maccabi Rishon LeZion described the new arrival as a player who "brings significant presence in the paint, plays with considerable power, toughness and intensity, dominates rebounding battles and finishes at high percentages near the rim."
Kuta is also a Netherlands international, having represented the country in World Cup and European Championship qualifying windows, giving him experience at senior national-team level alongside his club career.
No contract length or financial terms were disclosed in the club's announcement.
The move adds another size option to Rishon LeZion's roster as the club builds toward the upcoming Ligat Winner campaign.
