Marko Rakonjac is heading for a medical and a contract signing at Maccabi Petah Tikva, ONE reported on Sunday, ending his brief spell at Hapoel Jerusalem barely seven months after he arrived in the capital.
The Montenegrin forward flew into Israel on Friday and was due to join his new club that evening — fittingly for a friendly against the very team he is leaving, Hapoel Jerusalem. According to ONE, he is set to sign a contract running through the end of the season with a club option for a further year.
Rakonjac's agent, Ziv Solomowitz, brokered the move to Petah Tikva's Liga Leumit side, per the report. No transfer fee has been disclosed.
It is a short stay in the capital. Rakonjac signed for Hapoel Jerusalem as the club's first winter acquisition in January 2026, telling reporters at the time that he believed in the team and was determined to help drag it away from the bottom of the table. He managed two goals in half a season there before this exit, ONE said.
The 25-year-old forward has a well-travelled career behind him. Raised in the Čukarički academy in Serbia, he broke through as a teenager with 11 goals in a single season before Spartak Moscow paid a reported €2.5 million for him. Loan spells followed at Crvena Zvezda, Bačka Topola and Hungary's Diósgyőr, and he spent last season at Greek club Asteras Kritis, managing only one goal in 17 appearances across all competitions.
He has also represented Montenegro at national-team level.
For Maccabi Petah Tikva, the move is part of a broader push to strengthen ahead of the new Liga Leumit campaign. ONE reported the club is also chasing a defensive reinforcement and remains in talks over a possible move for Yoav Koren, currently on Hapoel Be'er Sheva's books.
The signing still needs Rakonjac to clear his medical before it is made official, but ONE's report leaves little doubt the paperwork is a formality at this stage.
