Kylian Mbappé has apparently decided that landing Real Madrid's next Galáctico is partly his job too. According to Germany's Bild, relayed by ONE, the France captain has personally worked on France teammate Michael Olise to push the Bayern Munich winger toward the Bernabéu — and has already told club president Florentino Pérez that he believes he has succeeded.
The report describes a sustained charm offensive built around the two players' close bond in the France squad. Mbappé is said to have talked up life in Madrid to Olise directly — the football project, but also the lifestyle, from the restaurants to the climate — while assuring him that Real Madrid genuinely want him.
The timing lines up with France's summer at the World Cup. Les Bleus were eliminated in the semi-finals on July 14, beaten 2-0 by Spain, and Bild's report ties Olise's hardened resolve to leave Bayern directly to that exit — with the 24-year-old reportedly concluding his odds of winning the Champions League are considerably better in Madrid than in Munich.
Pérez has made no secret of wanting a marquee addition since his re-election as Real Madrid president, and Olise has emerged as a prime target, with Spanish reports over recent weeks floating a bid in the region of €220 million for the winger. Whether Real actually go that high remains to be seen, but the interest from the Bernabéu is not in doubt.
Bayern's position is the opposite of accommodating. The club has explicitly rejected the idea of selling Olise, regarding him as a core piece of their squad rather than a player to be cashed in on, and — according to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano — are working on a new and improved contract to tie him down rather than field offers.
Olise signed for Bayern from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for a fee of around €53 million and has since become one of the Bundesliga's most productive wide players. He remains under contract in Munich until 2029, with no release clause, which gives Bayern real leverage even against a club of Real Madrid's stature.
Bild's report does add a caveat: Olise, while telling French teammates of his wish to leave, is not expected to force the issue or turn himself into a problem for Bayern this summer. Sport Bild's reporting suggests any deal would only move if Olise himself goes to both clubs' hierarchies and makes his desire to leave explicit.
For now, there has been no direct contact between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich over a transfer, leaving this squarely in rumor territory — fuelled by Mbappé's lobbying and Pérez's ambition, but not yet backed by anything close to a formal approach.
It is a familiar dynamic for Real Madrid, whose recent transfer business under Pérez has repeatedly leaned on star players talking up the club to potential signings from within their own national-team dressing rooms — precisely the tactic Mbappé appears to be running now on his French compatriot.
