Hapoel Jerusalem have strengthened their midfield for the season ahead, confirming the signing of Omer Abuhav from Bnei Sakhnin, ONE reports. The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year contract that carries a club option for an additional season.
Abuhav arrives in the capital having spent the past two seasons at Sakhnin, a stint capped by a standout final campaign in which he made 37 appearances across all competitions and established himself as an automatic starter, according to ONE.
It is his second senior move. Abuhav broke through at Hapoel Ramat Gan at 18, racking up 58 league appearances and two goals over two seasons there before Sakhnin signed him in July 2024. Before that he had come through the youth ranks at Hapoel Tel Aviv, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Petah Tikva.
Hapoel Jerusalem, who ended last season in the bottom playoff and finished 12th, are turning to the two-footed, ball-playing midfielder to add energy and passing range through the middle of the park.
"I'm very happy to join Hapoel! This is a great honour," Abuhav said, quoted by ONE. "I believe in this club's direction, the quality here, and the team. I'm coming with high energy and look forward to playing soon."
Abuhav, who is the son of Israeli actress Rotem Abuhav, becomes one of the more experienced additions so far to Lior Zada's squad as Hapoel Jerusalem look to rebuild ahead of the new Ligat Ha'al campaign.
