Orian Goren boarded a flight with Barcelona's senior squad on Monday, one of a handful of teenagers included in Hansi Flick's travelling party for a preseason training camp in England — a reward, ONE reports, for the way the 17-year-old Israeli has forced his way into the coach's plans this summer.

The camp is based at St George's Park in Staffordshire, the English FA's national football centre, where the squad is due to train through August 2 before a friendly against Birmingham City at St Andrew's on July 31. Barcelona previously used the facility to prepare during their treble-winning 2014/15 campaign.

Goren's invitation follows his first senior appearance for the club, coming off the bench in a closed-doors friendly against the Catalan side UE Europa that Barcelona won 4-1. He was praised afterwards for a positive impact in his minutes on the pitch, according to Spanish reporting relayed by ONE.

Born in Savyon on March 15, 2009, Goren came through Maccabi Petah Tikva's youth system before Barcelona brought him into La Masia in 2023. He signed his first professional contract with the club at 16, and has since been capped by Israel at both under-17 and under-19 level.

The Spanish paper Sport has previously described him as the most technically gifted player in Barcelona's youth ranks, drawing comparisons — stylistically, as an attacking midfielder comfortable drifting to the left — with academy graduates such as Andrés Iniesta and Pedri.

The timing has helped his cause. Barcelona are missing a string of first-team regulars who spent the summer at the World Cup: Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal were all part of the Spain squad that won the tournament on July 19, and are only trickling back into training in stages.

That has left gaps for Flick to fill from within, and the German has made a point of leaning on La Masia products in the meantime. "La Masia is how we do things," he said of his approach to blooding academy talent during preseason.

For Goren, a place on the plane to England is not a guarantee of more first-team minutes, but it puts him in daily training alongside the club's senior professionals during a period when squad places are genuinely up for grabs.

Barcelona's stay in England continues with further preseason work before the group returns to Spain to prepare for the new La Liga season, with Goren's next appearances likely to offer the clearest sign yet of how far Flick is willing to trust him.
