With Maccabi Tel Aviv about to kick off their league season, Roy Revivo used an Instagram story on Sunday to try to calm the noise around his own future, telling supporters he remains fully committed to the club regardless of how his transfer saga plays out.
"It's no secret that my dream is to play abroad," the 23-year-old left-back wrote, according to ONE, "but everyone should know: while I'm here, I feel committed, and I will do everything for the team and the fans."
The message comes at the end of a turbulent few weeks in which Revivo has been the subject of a prolonged tug-of-war between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Spanish club Elche, who have been pushing to sign him before La Liga's transfer window shuts on September 2.
Elche's opening approach was reported at around three million euros plus a future sell-on percentage, terms Maccabi rejected as insufficient. The Israeli champions have since demanded a larger cut of any future resale and asked Revivo and his family to give up a share of the card rights they hold in the player, stalling the talks.
The dispute spilled onto the pitch last week. Revivo, frustrated at what he felt was Maccabi blocking his move, spoke to head coach Kenny Miller and asked to sit out the Europa League third qualifying round return leg against CSKA Sofia. Miller initially granted the request before Revivo ultimately travelled with the squad to Bulgaria.
His father, the former Israel international Haim Revivo, broke his silence on the affair this week, saying his son had "behaved like a man" throughout and suggesting the club's handling of the situation reflected poorly on Maccabi.
Despite the friction, Revivo has stayed in Maccabi's plans on the field, having registered 15 assists in 52 appearances last season as one of the Yellow-and-Blue's most productive attacking full-backs. Other clubs are now reportedly showing stronger interest than Elche's stalled bid, though nothing has been finalised.
For now, with the new Israeli Premier League campaign beginning on Sunday evening, Revivo's public message was aimed squarely at reassuring a fan base unsettled by weeks of transfer speculation surrounding one of the squad's key players.
