Bradley Barcola has told Paris Saint-Germain he will not sign a new contract at the club, according to ONE, ending months of stop-start negotiations and pushing the France winger a significant step closer to an exit this summer.
The 23-year-old still has two years to run on the deal he signed when he arrived from Lyon in September 2023 for around €45 million, with terms through 2028. But according to ONE and reporting out of France picked up by Fabrizio Romano, Barcola has effectively ceased extension talks despite PSG offering him improved terms.
At the heart of it is playing time in the games that matter most. Barcola was a regular contributor in Ligue 1 last season, but Luis Enrique consistently preferred Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the biggest European nights, including PSG's Champions League final win over Arsenal in Budapest in May, where Barcola started on the bench.
That victory made PSG back-to-back European champions, the first team to retain the trophy since Real Madrid, and left Enrique with one of the deepest and most decorated forward lines in world football. For Barcola, the reward for staying has been rotation rather than a guaranteed starting shirt, even after a season in which he made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and adding six assists, per ONE's figures.
PSG have made clear they will not simply let him leave for nothing. ONE reports the club is holding out for a fee in excess of €100 million to sanction a sale, more than double what they paid Lyon three years ago. Other reports in England have floated an even higher valuation, in the region of €170 million, though no figure has been confirmed by either club, and it should be treated as a starting position rather than an agreed price.
Liverpool are described as the leading candidates, with Barcola said to have given the Anfield club priority if a deal with PSG can be struck. The Merseyside club have been searching for attacking reinforcements since Mohamed Salah's departure as a free agent at the end of last season after nine years at the club, and Arsenal have also been credited with interest in the France international.
Nothing here amounts to an agreed transfer. Barcola remains PSG property, the two Premier League clubs are said to be only monitoring or working on the situation, and the fee PSG want has not been tested by any concrete bid. What is now clear, on ONE's reporting and elsewhere, is that Barcola himself has decided his future lies away from the Parc des Princes.
