Ferran Torres has completed his move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, ending four and a half years at Camp Nou to sign a five-year contract in France, ONE reports.
The Spain forward, who scored the winning goal in extra time as Spain beat Argentina in the World Cup final at the start of this month, will wear the number 9 shirt at PSG and is under contract until 2031, according to the club's official announcement.
PSG had to raise their offer to get the deal done. Barcelona initially rejected an opening bid of €40 million plus €10 million in add-ons, holding out for at least €50 million guaranteed before the two clubs agreed a package reported at roughly €50 million with a further €5 million in bonuses.
Luis Enrique, the PSG head coach, pushed hard for the signing. The two Spaniards worked together in the national team setup, and Torres will now report to him again at club level in Paris.
"I'm delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain," Torres said in PSG's announcement. "I'd like to thank president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique for giving me the opportunity to join the team, which I hope to help win as many trophies as possible."
Torres missed Barcelona training sessions with the club's permission in the final days of the negotiation as the transfer was finalised. His departure brings Barcelona a significant fee and salary-cap relief at a club that has repeatedly had to manage its wage bill under La Liga's financial rules.
He joins an attacking line at Parc des Princes that already includes Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé and Désiré Doué, adding fresh competition up front for a club chasing another Ligue 1 and Champions League double.
The move caps a remarkable few weeks for Torres, who arrived at the World Cup as a squad player and left it as the man who settled the final, a story that has clearly shaped PSG's willingness to pay a premium for him this summer.
