Karim Adeyemi is officially a Barcelona player. The German winger has completed his move from Borussia Dortmund, ONE reports, ending three years at the Westfalenstadion to join Hansi Flick's rebuilt attacking line at Camp Nou.
The fee, as reported by ONE and matched by outlets across Europe, sits at roughly €22 million with a further €7 million in performance-based add-ons — a deal Barcelona and Dortmund are understood to have quietly agreed more than a week before the announcement.
Adeyemi has put pen to a five-year contract that runs until the summer of 2031. Dortmund, for their part, negotiated a 35 percent sell-on clause on any future sale, a standard piece of business protection given how much they still believe in the 24-year-old's ceiling.
He is expected to earn in the region of €6 million a season net in Catalonia, and he arrives as the second forward Flick has brought in this summer, following the signing of Anthony Gordon.
At 24, Adeyemi is best known for his raw speed — regularly cited as among the very fastest players in world football — and his aggressive, high-intensity pressing, qualities that made him a fixture in Dortmund's attack across three Bundesliga and Champions League campaigns. Last season he produced 10 goals and 6 assists in all competitions.
His path to the top ran through Bayern Munich and Unterhaching's academies before Red Bull Salzburg gave him his platform in Austria. There he won league titles and, in the 2021-22 season, finished as the Austrian Bundesliga's top scorer with 19 goals in 29 appearances, adding four more in the Champions League.
Dortmund moved for him in the summer of 2022, and he grew into one of the club's key attacking outlets, valued for his ability to play across the front line and on either wing.
The connection to his new coach goes back further than this transfer. It was Flick, then Germany's manager, who handed Adeyemi his senior international debut in September 2021 — while he was still a teenager at Salzburg — in a 6-0 win over Armenia in which the youngster scored. Flick had already tracked him closely, having faced him in Champions League ties as Bayern's coach.
Barcelona believe that history, and Adeyemi's tactical range, will translate smoothly into Flick's system, which leans heavily on high pressing, rapid transitions and constant positional rotation in the final third.
The winger also has recent international pedigree of his own, having scored for Germany in their 5-1 opening win over Scotland at Euro 2024 — evidence, Barcelona's recruitment staff will hope, that he can deliver on the biggest stages as he begins his new chapter in Spain.
