Dor Peretz scored the first hat-trick of his senior career on Sunday as Maccabi Tel Aviv opened their 2026/27 Israeli Premier League campaign with a 5-2 win over Hapoel Jerusalem, played at a temporary home venue in Rehovot.

Peretz's treble was the headline act in a rout that also featured a goal from full-back Roy Ravivo, according to ONE, which crunched the numbers behind the striker's landmark afternoon.

The three goals take Peretz to 93 in Maccabi Tel Aviv colours, a career tally built almost entirely in yellow and blue since he broke into the first team, and lift him to five goals already this season.

Hapoel Jerusalem have historically been a reasonably profitable opponent for him — Sunday's haul brought his personal tally against them to six — though ONE noted his best return against any single club remains the ten goals he has scored past Hapoel Haifa.

It continues a habit ONE flagged of Peretz treating season openers as personal showcases, pointing to a run of goals in previous campaign-opening matches and early European ties for the club.

The 31-year-old arrives at this season on the back of the best year of his career: he finished 2025/26 as the Israeli Premier League's top scorer with 19 league goals, and 22 in all competitions, a run that reportedly drew interest from clubs including Fiorentina, Omonia Nicosia and Paphos over the summer.

He ultimately stayed at Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Sunday's hat-trick suggests he has picked up exactly where he left off.

Ravivo, meanwhile, now leads the club's attacking charts for the young season with five goal involvements in six appearances, underlining a broadening scoring threat beyond Peretz alone as Maccabi begin the title defence.
