Oscar Gloukh got his season up and running on Thursday night, scoring Ajax's third goal in a commanding 4-1 win away to FK Vojvodina in the first leg of their Conference League second qualifying round tie, ONE reported.
The Israel international's goal came in the 52nd minute in Novi Sad. Winger Mika Godts drove in from the left and slipped a pass into the box, and Gloukh needed only two touches — one to control, one to finish — beating Vojvodina goalkeeper Rosic with a firm strike into the middle of the goal.
It capped an eventful evening for the Dutch side. Davy Klaassen had put Ajax ahead inside three minutes, before Vojvodina's Petar Sukačev levelled it in the 28th. Steven Berghuis restored the lead just before half-time, Gloukh made it 3-1 after the break, and substitute Mohamed Abdalla added a fourth deep into stoppage time.
Gloukh, who started the match, was withdrawn in the 69th minute, with Ajax's coaching staff managing his minutes with the second leg — scheduled for next Thursday at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam — already in view.
The result gives Ajax a comfortable cushion heading into that home leg, as they aim to progress through Europe's third-tier club competition and reach the league phase.
It was also a landmark night for two of the club's other new arrivals: Henrique and Abdalla both made their competitive debuts for Ajax, with Abdalla marking his with the final goal of the rout.
Gloukh joined Ajax from Red Bull Salzburg last August for a reported fee of around €14.75 million, potentially rising to €17.25 million with add-ons, signing a five-year contract. He came through the Maccabi Tel Aviv youth academy before moving to Salzburg in January 2023.
In his first season in Amsterdam, the 22-year-old contributed six goals and six assists in the Eredivisie and added three goals in the Champions League — numbers that made him one of the more productive newcomers in Dutch football last year, and a big reason expectations are high again this season.
