Arsenal have wasted little time replacing Leandro Trossard, confirming the signing of Greek international winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge in a deal reported at around £34m (roughly €40m) on a contract running to 2031.
The 24-year-old leaves Belgium off the back of an outstanding campaign: 17 goals and 23 assists in 36 Pro League appearances for Brugge last season, numbers that made him one of the division's most sought-after attacking talents and turned his sale into a record for a Belgian top-flight club, according to reporting cited by ONE and confirmed independently by Sky Sports and ESPN.
He arrives at the Emirates as the direct replacement for Trossard, who has gone the other way out of English football entirely. The Belgian winger completed a move to Besiktas in a deal worth £17m (£15.3m plus £1.7m in potential add-ons), ending a three-and-a-half-year Arsenal spell in which he made 174 appearances and contributed 36 goals and 34 assists.
Mikel Arteta's rebuild of his wide options isn't finished there, either — Arsenal are said to still be tracking further attacking reinforcements this summer, underlining how central pace and directness out wide have become to the club's planning.
The same day's other big winger story involves a player who, by contrast, is already moving on from a club he only joined a year ago. Alejandro Garnacho has left Chelsea for Aston Villa on a season-long loan that comes with a conditional obligation to buy, reported by Sky Sports and other British outlets at close to £42.5m if certain appearance-based conditions are met over the 2026/27 campaign.
Those conditions are understood to be relatively modest and considered likely to be triggered, meaning Villa's move is, in practice, expected to become permanent rather than a straightforward year-long loan.
It caps an unusually short and rocky stay in west London for the Argentine international. Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United only last summer for a reported £40m, but managed just eight goals in 43 appearances across all competitions before the club moved to offload him.
Aston Villa now becomes Garnacho's third Premier League club in as many seasons, a striking trajectory for a 21-year-old still seen as one of the most talented wide players to come through Manchester United's academy in the last decade.
For Villa, meanwhile, the swoop brings in direct competition and creative depth out wide as Unai Emery's side continue building for another push toward Europe.
Taken together, the two deals capture the churn of this transfer window at its top end: Arsenal paying a Belgian-league record to bring in a proven goal contributor while moving on a reliable servant, and Chelsea cutting their losses on a marquee signing barely twelve months after making it.
