Bnei Herzliya have added a well-travelled American guard to their roster for next season, announcing the signing of DJ Brewton on a deal for the coming Israeli Basketball Premier League campaign with a club option to extend it a further year, ONE reports.
Brewton, 26 and listed at around 6-foot-3, is a versatile guard-forward who spent last season hopping between three different European leagues — a itinerant path that nonetheless left him with a Polish championship medal by the end of it.
He began 2024-25 in Lithuania with BC Jonava, averaging roughly 14 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists in just under 29 minutes a night, form that earned him a spot on the league's foreign five and a place on the second all-star team.
Midway through the season he moved on to Italian side Udine, before a further switch took him to Legia Warsaw in Poland, where he helped the club to the Polish league title while averaging 14.5 points, four rebounds and 3.4 assists in just over 25 minutes per game — production that saw him named to Poland's foreign five as well.
"DJ is an interesting, versatile player we've been monitoring since last summer," Bnei Herzliya head coach Yehu Orland said of the signing. "He plays multiple positions, handles the ball well, demonstrates strong one-on-one ability, solid defense and toughness."
Brewton struck an upbeat tone about the move. "I'm excited to join Bnei Herzliya and look forward to the upcoming season," he said. "I believe we can accomplish great things together."
The signing gives Orland another ball-handling option as Bnei Herzliya, coached by the former IBPL Sixth Man of the Year, build out their squad for a season in which the Herzliya club will again look to compete in Israel's top flight.
