Jamal Musiala will not be involved when Bayern Munich face Borussia Dortmund in Saturday's German Super Cup, after the 23-year-old collapsed on the training pitch for the second time in four days.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany confirmed the decision to leave Musiala out of the squad, explaining that the German international's medication had recently been adjusted and that the episodes followed as a side effect. "He changed something in his treatment, and then had side effects," Kompany said.
Musiala himself has previously described the incidents as temporary and brief episodes linked to impaired neurological function, stressing there is no serious underlying health risk.
Kompany insisted the club is not alarmed by the situation, which has been monitored for some time. "We've been dealing with this for a while. The initial shock is behind us. We're not in a panic," the manager said, according to ONE.
Sporting director Max Eberl added that Bayern have been in close contact with neurologists and medical staff throughout, saying the club's handling of Musiala's condition has effectively become part of its routine.
German outlets Sportschau and Tagesspiegel, reporting separately on Kompany's press conference, confirmed the club's account that Musiala had suffered collapses during pre-season friendlies within the same week, prompting the decision to keep him out of Saturday's Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Dortmund.
Musiala is set to train individually over the coming days rather than be reintegrated immediately into full squad sessions, with Bayern wary of overloading him before the Bundesliga season kicks off the following weekend.
