Hapoel Tel Aviv have tied down one of the faces of their recent success, announcing that forward Tomer Ginat has extended his contract through the 2029/30 season, ONE reported.
The new deal adds four years to Ginat's current stay in red. Combined with his first spell at the club from 2016 to 2020, the extension means the 31-year-old will have spent 12 seasons in total wearing Hapoel colours by the time it expires.
Ginat, a 6-foot-8 power forward born in Gesher Haziv, returned to Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2022 after two seasons in France with Metropolitans 92. Since coming back, he has become one of the squad's most reliable figures, both on the floor and in the locker room.
He played a central role last season as Hapoel won the EuroCup, averaging 8.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 65.4 percent from inside the arc over the course of the championship campaign.
"It's time to complete the mission in Israel and win the championship," Ginat said of the new agreement, according to ONE.
Head coach Dimitris Itoudis, who led Hapoel to that EuroCup title and was named the Israeli league's Coach of the Year for 2024/25, backed the club's decision to lock in his forward long-term. "I cannot imagine Hapoel's future without Tomer Ginat," Itoudis said. "He always places the team first."
General manager George Chinas framed the extension as a statement of loyalty on both sides. "The captain stays home," Chinas said. "Tomer committed for life with his family."
In a companion piece published by ONE, club owner Ofer Yanai went further, promising that Ginat would eventually retire in Hapoel Tel Aviv colours as a champion of both Israel and Europe. "That's a promise," Yanai said, "and one I'll do everything to keep."
Ginat is also a regular for the Israeli national team, having made his senior debut in 2017 and featured at EuroBasket 2025. He underwent knee surgery in March, and locking in his long-term future comes as he works his way back from that injury.
The extension continues a pattern of Hapoel prioritising continuity around its core group as it chases a first Israeli championship in years to go alongside its European silverware.
