Dolev Haziza is due at Maccabi Netanya's training ground on Thursday to put pen to paper on a two-year contract, ONE reports, ending a six-year association with Maccabi Haifa that brought three championships and the captain's armband.
The move had been all but agreed for days, with the sides said to be waiting only for the conclusion of Tisha B'Av before finalising paperwork and staging a formal unveiling. Negotiations reportedly ran late into the night beforehand as the last details were ironed out.
The 31-year-old attacking midfielder joined Haifa from Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv in 2019 and became one of the club's most reliable attacking outlets over the following seasons, contributing goals and assists from wide areas and through the middle. He scored six times in 29 appearances last season alone, according to Ynet.
His Haifa exit was set in motion when manager Barak Bakhar indicated Haziza no longer figured in his plans, despite the player still holding a contract with the club through the summer of 2027. He did not take part in Haifa's pre-season training camp while the move to Netanya was worked out.
As part of the exit, Maccabi Haifa agreed to compensate Haziza for tearing up the remaining year of his deal, with Sport1 (Maariv) and Walla Sport both reporting a payout of roughly €120,000.
ONE reports that Maccabi Netanya will cover approximately ₪80,000 net per month of Haziza's wages under the new deal — a package the club has structured as it builds toward a more competitive season under manager Roni Levi.
The signing represents Maccabi Netanya's sixth addition of the transfer window, part of a recruitment push overseen by general manager Gil Lev under owner Ross Kestin's Aliyah Capital Partners ownership group, which took control of the club last year.
For Haifa, it marks the end of an era for a player who made 75 senior appearances, scored 14 goals and added 14 assists across his time at the club, winning three Israeli championships along the way before losing his place in Bakhar's squad plans.
