Hapoel Acre's Liga Leumit campaign is barely two rounds old and the northern club is already bracing for a coaching change. ONE reports that Adham Hadiya has asked the club to end his tenure as head coach, just six months after taking the job.
According to the outlet, which was first to the story, Hadiya approached Hapoel Acre's management with the request as the new season got under way, meaning the club will need to identify a replacement before round two.
Hadiya, 41, was appointed in Acre in February, signing through the end of last season with an option for a further year. He took over from caretaker Itzik Twizer and arrived having just left Maccabi Bnei Reineh, where he had earlier steered the club to the 2021-22 Liga Leumit title.
"I am excited to join Hapoel Acre and thank the management for their confidence in me," Hadiya said at the time of his appointment, with club owner Tzachi Nakash calling him "a quality coach, a true professional and a person with values matching Hapoel Acre's spirit."
Six months on, that arrangement appears to be over almost as soon as the new campaign has begun. ONE's report does not detail Hadiya's reasons for wanting out, and Hapoel Acre have not yet issued their own statement confirming the exit or naming a successor.
The turnover fits a wider pattern in Israel's second tier, where managerial changes are common and Hadiya himself has moved between five different clubs since 2018, including spells at Kafr Qasim, Hapoel Umm al-Fahm and Hapoel Iksal before his brief stay in Acre.
For now, the story is a request rather than a confirmed departure, and Hapoel Acre's next move — whether to accept it and open a coaching search, or try to talk Hadiya into staying — is the detail to watch as the Liga Leumit season develops.
