Hapoel Beer Sheva have identified their man to replace Hélder Lopes at left-back, with ONE reporting that the club is closing in on a deal for Pedro Amador, the 27-year-old Portuguese defender currently on the books at Atlanta United.
According to the report, Beer Sheva wanted an experienced, internationally-tested left-sided defender who could step straight into the side ahead of a European qualifying campaign, and Amador — a player who came through Braga's academy before making his name at Moreirense — fits that profile.
Amador moved to MLS on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, signing with Atlanta United through the 2026 season with a club option for 2027. Before that switch he made more than 100 appearances across Portugal's top two divisions, the bulk of them in four seasons with Moreirense.
The move would end the Hapoel Beer Sheva career of Hélder Lopes, the Portuguese left-back who has been a fixture at the club since 2021 and made well over 150 appearances in all competitions, evolving in recent seasons into an attacking outlet as much as a defender.
There is a complication, however. ONE notes that Atlanta United's head coach, Tata Martino, has disclosed that Amador is currently carrying an Achilles injury — with the club yet to make clear whether it is a minor issue close to resolving or something more serious that could delay his availability.
That uncertainty means Beer Sheva are planning to put Amador through a full battery of medical examinations before signing off on the transfer, standard practice for any club bringing in a player with a recent injury concern, but a step that carries extra weight here given the timing.
No transfer fee has been disclosed, and the deal is not yet finalized — this remains, for now, a move in progress rather than a done one, with the medical assessment likely to determine how quickly it can be completed.
