Hapoel Umm al-Fahm have gone shopping a long way from home to strengthen their attack for the coming Liga Alef North season, confirming the signing of forward Yishai Buzorgui on a one-year deal, ONE reports.
The 24-year-old arrives from Maccabi Ata Bialik, where he scored eight goals last season, and brings a surname well known in Israeli football circles: Buzorgui is part of a Kiryat Shmona footballing family whose father, Yitzhak, played for Hapoel Kiryat Shmona, and whose brother Alon has also worn the club's colours.
The move to the Wadi Ara club is something of a homecoming for Buzorgui within the division. According to ONE, this will be his fourth stop in Liga Alef North, and he already has local history with the town — he had a brief spell with crosstown rivals Maccabi Umm al-Fahm two seasons ago.
He is not the only new face at HaShalom Stadium. ONE reports that Hapoel Umm al-Fahm have also brought in forward Wassim Badarna, 28, from Hapoel Arraba, where he scored three goals last season, along with goalkeeper Amit Suari.
The recruitment push comes with coach Tomer Kashtan working to rebuild a squad that endured a difficult campaign, finishing well down the Liga Alef North table. The club will be hoping Buzorgui's goalscoring pedigree in the division helps steady results when the new season kicks off.
