The Referees Association has published its officiating assignments for the opening round of Ligat Ha'al, and the whistle for Maccabi Tel Aviv's first league match of the season will belong to Gal Levi.
Levi has been named referee for Maccabi Tel Aviv's home meeting with Hapoel Jerusalem, one of the marquee fixtures of the round, ONE reports.
Across town, at Maccabi Haifa's clash with Hapoel Ramat Gan, the appointment goes to Omer Biran, a regular top-flight official who has taken charge of Haifa fixtures in the past.
The rest of the round is covered too: David Foksman has been assigned to Maccabi Petah Tikva against Ironi Kiryat Shmona, Snir Levi will referee Ironi Tiberias's meeting with Hapoel Petah Tikva at the Barel Stadium, and Naal Odeh takes charge of Maccabi Netanya's game against Bnei Sakhnin.
Two of the round's fixtures have been held back from the initial schedule because of European commitments — Hapoel Be'er Sheva and Hapoel Tel Aviv, along with their would-be opponents Hapoel Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem, are still occupied in continental competition and will begin their league campaigns later, according to ONE.
For everyone else, this weekend marks the formal kickoff of the new Ligat Ha'al season, with the officiating list now locked in ahead of a slate of matches spread across Saturday and Sunday.
